It’s always Target and Wal-Mart where most people go hunt for special treats after Halloween because most people know they’re among the retailers that offer everyday good deals and post-holiday candy clearance. But there are also a few other stores that usually carry sale candy this time of year.
CVS – CVS actually has some of the best candy deals in the past, although true, you did have to own a Rewards card to get the promotion. There were Snickers, Twix and Kit Kat bags at only $2 with the rewards program. Last year, shoppers scored 7 bags of candy with $5 using CVS Extra Care Bucks.
Costco: The go-to shop for big bags, it isn’t always that Costco is cheaper than others at candy but they did have a huge bag of assorted candy last year that they sold for less than $10. Think of it this way: what you don’t eat yourself, you can always use to make someone else happy.
Dollar General: How cheap can a dollar store get? Find out this year when Dollar General may just discount Halloween candy that didn’t sell before the holiday big time. There were stores in previous years that discounted Halloween candy 25% the first week after the holiday, 50% the following week and up to 90% then after.
Target (of course): For old fashioned licorice treats, please visit Target. 70% marked down licorice isn’t a sweet to pass off on that easily, and while you’re at it, look for the special candy section where Target usually has leftover candy at only $2 per bag.
Wal-Mart Halloween candy deals: Like dum dums? Wal-Mart had them crazy cheap last year. Not everyone is into lollipops, but kiddies sure love them so if they’re good through next Halloween, it might not be such a bad idea to stock up for 2017. Lots of people do it.
About Target and Wal-Mart and possibly as a general rule: most stores will probably have 50% off candy sale just after Halloween, but if you wait a little longer, you may get most of your candy at 90% off. True, there mightn’t be much of a selection left, so it’s entirely up to you to decide.
