Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground pork sausage
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cans (28 ounces each) of bold-and-spicy baked beans
- 1 can (15 ounces) of black beans, drained
- 1 can (15 ounces) of light or dark kidney beans, drained
- 3 cups of bottled barbecue sauce
- ½ cup of firmly packed dark brown sugar
- ¼ cup of yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon of black pepper
- ½ teaspoon of ground red pepper
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder (optional)
Instructions:
- Begin by cooking the pork sausage in an ovenproof Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally until the sausage crumbles and turns brown. Once cooked, drain the sausage, reserving about 2 teaspoons of drippings in the Dutch oven.
- Return the cooked sausage to the Dutch oven and stir in the finely chopped onion, along with the next 8 ingredients (bold-and-spicy baked beans, black beans, kidney beans, barbecue sauce, dark brown sugar, yellow mustard, black pepper, and ground red pepper). If you like an extra kick, add the optional garlic powder.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 45 minutes or until it thickens up and becomes bubbly.
