BBQ Pulled Pork Pie

This recipe takes pulled pork to a whole new level, making it perfect for entertaining guests or satisfying your comfort food cravings.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 3 hours and 15 minutes

Servings: 6

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup BBQ sauce (plus an additional 1/4 cup for serving).
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar.
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (divided).
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder.
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes.
  • 2 cups of oven-roasted pulled pork.
  • 2 tubes of Crescent rolls.
  • 1 1/2 cups Monterey Jack cheese.
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion.
  • 1/4 cup sliced pepperoncini peppers.
  • 2 tablespoons melted grass-fed butter.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt.
  • Freshly cracked black pepper.

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Pork: In a large mixing bowl, combine apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, BBQ sauce, garlic powder, and crushed red pepper flakes. Mix well. Add the oven-roasted pulled pork to the sauce, ensuring it’s thoroughly coated. Place the sauced pork on a foil-covered baking tray and roast in the preheated oven for about 3 hours or until the pork is tender enough to be easily shredded with two forks.
  3. Prepare the Crescent Rolls: While the pork is roasting, unroll the crescent rolls and arrange them on a foil-covered baking sheet.
  4. Layer the Pie: Begin assembling your pulled pork pie. Create an even layer of Monterey Jack cheese on the bottom of the crescent roll dough. On top of the cheese, place the shredded, sauced pulled pork. Drizzle any remaining sauce over the pork. Sprinkle the thinly sliced red onion and sliced pepperoncini peppers evenly over the pork.
  5. Seal the Pie: Carefully fold the crescent roll dough over the pork and other ingredients, ensuring that everything is well-encased. Press the edges to seal.
  6. Bake to Perfection: Place the prepared pulled pork pie in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crescent rolls turn a beautiful golden brown.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Once your pulled pork pie has baked to perfection, remove it from the oven. Drizzle a little extra BBQ sauce over the top for added flavor. Slice, serve, and savor every delicious bite.
